One way to make money on the internet is to blog. Blogs are popping up all over the place. In this article we will look at two of the most popular ways to blog, Word Press and Blogger.com. They both have advantages and disadvantages.

I use WordPress for several of my own blogs including my make money blog for Team-Schuman. I use Blogger.com for my small business information blog.

Blogger is a quick and easy way to set up a blog. There is no need for you to have a website or a domain name. Blogger hosts the blog for you. Registration takes only a couple of minutes and does not cost anything. You get to choose the style of blog you want with the many different templates they offer.

To add a post you simply name it and start typing. You can hyperlink keywords to various links easily as well.

Type in your text and preview it to make sure it looks good. Then click on publish and your blog post is now live.

So here is the big question! If it’s this easy, why would you not simply choose Blogger and be done with it?

One disadvantage of Blogger is they can come in and delete your blog at anytime for any reason and they will not notify you. This is a problem for people who do not add fresh content to their blogs and leave them set idle. You also need to keep your content fresh. Just posting in other people’s articles over and over is called duplicate content and not a good idea.

One way around that is if you have a web hosting account you can host your Blogger.com blog on your site and is the recommended way to host it.

WordPress has to be hosted on your hosting service. You use your domain name and the WordPress blog is in it’s own folder. You control everything about it from the header and footer to the sidebar and categories.

Once you have your WP blog setup it is very easy to make a post. You go into the administration area and write a post. When you are finished, you click to publish it. If you have setup WordPress properly and have listed auto posting at Pingomatic, your post will automatically be pinged to the blogging networks. You do not have an additional step.

There are also many templates for you to use and it is possible to configure these templates to fit your needs. Once again, you have more control.
On disadvantage WordPress is hard for the average person to install. To take full advantage of it there are many different plugins you can install as well. This can be difficult to do and you may want to hire someone who does this everyday to do it for you. Just Google search “hire a WordPress blog installer” and see what comes up.

With WP you need a domain name and your own web hosting. With Blogger you can set up as many blogs as you want on different subjects without any monthly hosting fees.

I personally like WordPress for a long term blog. By that I mean a blog that is on a topic you are passionate about and likely to sitck with. Blogger is a good way to go if you are experimenting and not sure if you will stick with it long term.
