Whose Fault Is It When Your Visitor Leaves Without Buying

We are approaching the time of year when we all sit down and make New Year’s resolutions. For those of us in the Internet marketing profession this also includes setting goals for our Internet business.

One thing I would like you to think about when it comes to making more money is why are people coming to your website and leaving without making a purchase?

Here are a few possible reasons that you must consider.

1. Your website or blog looks unprofessional. This doesn’t mean you have to spend all of your life improving it, but at the very least make it look like a professional Internet marketer owns it.

2. You do not have an about us page. This is one of my most visited pages on my website and blog.
People feel more comfortable with you, and making a purchase from you, when they know more about you. This page will go a long way toward creating credibility and trust.

3. You do not have a testimonials page. This is a great place to list comments from satisfied customers or business partners. Make that one of your priorities at the beginning of this year to create a solid testimonial page to help increase your sales in the coming year.

4. Create pre-sell or review pages. This is especially helpful if you do affiliate marketing and sell other people’s products. Rather than send your visitor directly to your affiliate sales page warm them up a little bit first by offering comments on the products you sell.

5. Remind people to bookmark your site so they can find you in the future. Put a bookmark this site link right up at the top of the page were it cane found.

6. Ask people to subscribe to your newsletter if you publish one. Ask them to subscribe to your RSS feed for your blog as well. This is a very easy way to keep in touch with your visitors and make sales in the future.

7. Work at improving your sales copy. The only way to do that is to test and retest to see how it is converting. Once you have found a winning formula stick with it.

8. Give people multiple ways to order from you. This should include taking all major credit cards, having a PayPal payment option, or possibly even excepting checks.

Besides having people order from you online, also allow them to easily order from you via email, fax, or even snail mail.

9. Offer incentives for people to buy today. Create a sense of urgency by having a limited time offer, or by limiting the quantity available. Encourage people to buy it today and many of them will.

In summary you have a great year ahead of you. If you’re not getting the number of customers you want it’s probably your fault. Incorporate these nine things to help encourage your visitor to make a purchase from your internet business today or in the future!
