A common question as it relates to affiliate marketing is should I promote my affiliate sales page?

That is a good question. I just read this very question over in the Plugin Profit Site forum. Most of the replies said to promote the PIPS sales page except me.

“I think it is better to feature the PIPS program on your new PIPS website and promote your PIPS website with article marketing. Here’s why.

1. You have a lot of products to offer with ClickBank

2. You can get newsletter subscribers on your website

3. You can get PIPS sales on your website

4. Advertising your website address in a bio box creates a backlink for future page rankings with various search engines

5. You can add pay per click programs to your site like Google Adsense

6. You can add pay per lead programs to your site like Max Bounty

7. You can customize your site to the way you want it. You should not customize your PIPS sales page itself.

8. You can host a blog with Bloggero.com and link back to your home page from it getting Google to spider you home page quicker and more often.

There are a lot more reasons. The ones I listed get you in the game and making money with pay per click, pay per lead, and pay per sale.

Personally I say get confidence in your home page and promote it over and over. You are looking for one positive response from every visitor. Will you get that from everyone? NO!

But getting more visitors to do something on your site and getting some of them to come back to it is the key. Not everyone will go for PIPS or understand PIPS, but they may do one of the other things I listed above. And that creates cash flow and excitement on your part.”

The same thing with promoting any affiliate product with the affiliate website you are given. Sending traffic directly to a sales page is not a good idea because you have no way to capture any names and email addresses. Why would you do that?

Because a captured name and email address can be followed up with over and over for perhaps years to come. Plus promoting the same sales page as every other affiliate in the world does not give you a chance to personalize it with your testimonial or why you are promoting it in the first place.

So I say create a capture page or promote your home page and then link to your the affiliate sales page from it.
