Recession Proof Business
If you have an internet marketing business you already know it can be a recession proof business. If you do not have one going yet now is a good time to get one started.
According to many people the United States is heading towards a recession, or may already be in one. This can be verified by watching how everyone from the President on down is reacting.
Even Congress appears ready to work together the pass legislation that will spur the economy on and give Americans more money to spend. This makes sense because it is an election year and no one wants to be the one that appears to be against this.

One other important point is to pay attention to selling residual income products and programs. 2 tier affiliate programs are good because you can earn money on the sales of the affiliates you recruit. This can go on way beyond the end of a recession.
Selling membership products and programs are good as well because you can get paid over and over for making a sale one time. Network marketing programs are excellent in the time of a recessions because they attract people from all walks of life.
You can build a downline that earns you income on the efforts of thousands of people as your distributorship grows. The key with any mlm business is to join one that offer products with unique advantages and is affordable by the majority of the people considering joining it.
In summary making money during a recession still requires a lot of hard work. The internet can help you do this, but you still will have to log on everyday and work at getting traffic to your website if you want to make sales.

I agree totally Jeff.
internet marketing is one of the few businesses that can make serious cash even during a recession.
The world is a very large place, but the internet has certainly made it much smaller in terms of reaching your customers.

Good article and great timing. This is definitely the time to have a home based business. Our living costs are going thru the roof. Gasoline and heating costs are on top of my list.

I live in Europe and I have great benefit of the fact that business is made in US dollars.The exchange rate is in my favor at the moment.The recession in The United States may benefit internet marketers when people seek for a way to make money if they lose their current jobs.

Yes, it’s true what they say - One mans misfortune is another mans opportunity.
I am a “newbie” at this. I am still astounded at the amount of opportunity that the internet offers. Just imagine “snail-mailing” your list with the latest opportunity!
I am currently trying out a job opportunity, similar to a “plug-in”
and so it’s a question of “focusing” on that for the time being.
As it only cost me $5 to join with the currency conversion of $1=£1.90, it’s a “bit of a no-brainer”!
However, Jeff, the downside here in the UK is the “gas” prices are a tad more expensive than in the US - how about £5 a gallon or roughly $10!!!
My mantra for 2008 -”If something bad happens - It’s not the end of the World - it’s already tomorrow in Australia!”

I would say that Jeff Schuman has the knowledge to know what is a good opportunity and what isn’t.And he has helped lots of people that are just starting out to get started.Even if the economy in general is not that great right now I am sure we will get through this.I wish I could participate but I am working full time and just do not have the time or the extra start up money because I did start an ebay store back up and I am hoping to gradually add some items that will sell on a regular basis.And I also hope to create some informational products to sell on my site as well.Good luck to everyone this year.

I know for a fact that any time the economy is doing poorly my work at home sites thrive because people are looking for ways to supplement their income. But even when the economy is doing well people still want to make money so we win either way. Our industry is like the food or medical fields. People will always need to eat, will always get sick and they’ll always need ways to make money. If you’re in any of these categories you’re set for life!
