Press Release Tips
Press release writing is one of the most cost-efficient marketing tools that you can use in building credibility for your ebusiness or organizations.
Unlike articles and sales letters, these copies focus on newsworthy information that aim to keep your customer base informed about the latest happenings in your company.
Here’s how you can develop your press release writing:
1. Kick-start your copies with interesting headlines. Think of a news report when writing your press releases. In order to capture the attention of your target audience, you must use headlines that are truly compelling and interesting.
Your headlines must be able to tell your story. They must answer the why, where, when, what, and who questions of your readers. Don’t forget to keep your headlines brief and direct to the point.
2. Write only information that offers something. You need to always keep in mind that press release writing is very different with article writing as you are not allowed to discuss random topics.
The things that you need to write about must be exciting like partnership or merger with other companies, charity events that you are sponsoring, significant milestones that you have achieved, recognition you have received, and deals or contracts that you won.
3. It must benefit the reader. Always highlight the benefits that your news can offer to your readers so you can get more people to pay attention to your copies.
If your company has discovered a new invention that can offer your customers with low-cost service make sure that you communicate that. People simply love reading about something that can potentially improve the quality of their lives.
4. Use active voice. Using active voice can definitely bring your content to life.
Instead of saying “have entered partnership” use “partnered” instead to make your content sound more exciting. You may also use strong verbs that can help your readers visualize the points that you are trying to get across.
5. Keep it short. You need to keep your press releases short as much as possible. Aside from the fact that you must serve people who have short attention span, you also do not want to drag your story just to offer lengthy content to your readers.
Make sure that all the words you use are helping you communicate the facts that you have in hand. If they do not serve that purpose, they are most likely to be considered as fillers and they must be removed from your content before you publish your press releases.
