If you are trying to do internet marketing with a website or blog and you do not have a mailing list you are making a big mistake. Trying to follow up one customer at a time, or even worse not following up at all, is putting you at a big disadvantage with your business. Let’s talk about managing a mailing list and list management secrets.

I read early in my online career that the person who rules the list rules the money. That always stuck in the back of my mind. Since then I have read that a quality mailing list is worth $1 per per month. So a good list of 5000 people should earn you $5K a month mailing to it.

Notice I said a quality mailing list. This is built one subscriber at a time from people who want to hear from you. This is not spamming people and it is not buying bulk leads either. So how do you manage your list as you start to build it?

Stone Evans says this in his free make money online eBook “Dotcomology

“As you build up your subscriber list (if you’re trying to do this without an autoresponder), you’re going to develop a big problem. Whichever mail program you’re using, whether it’s Outlook or Eudora or something else, it’s just not going to be set up to deal with the kind of mass mailing involved with newsletters.

If you have more than 50 people on your list, you’ll need to use an autoresponder. Don’t even try to do this by yourself! There are some free autoresponder services on the market, but I don’t recommend using any of them unless you simply don’t have ANY
money. An autoresponder is really the most important tool for conducting an online marketing campaign.

One of the biggest problems with most free autoresponder services is that they stuff their own ads onto your newsletter. This draws the attention away from you and your products and pulls the attention of your readers toward other company’s products/services. If you’re going to do a newsletter (and you should) it’s worth investing in a professional service. That is, after all, what you are offering, isn’t it? Otherwise, you simply have a hobby and hobbies don’t usually pay the bills.

Remember, newsletters and blogs are great ways to keep customers and revenue flowing in. They remind people you’re still out there, provide news about deals and bargains, and give customers the confidence to buy. You can put them together in a snap, or even pay someone a small fee to do it for you. However you do it, the thing is to just do it. Publishing a newsletter and/or a blog on the Internet is one of the most important keys for unlocking your online profits. So what do I recommend when it come to managing a mailing list? I have used AWeber for several years now and have never had a problem with them. I run several lists with them for various things and they are very easy to work with. They offer great support and training as well.
