Make Money Working Online
To make money working online you are going to need a lot more than a list of goals and a positive attitude. As a matter of fact positive thinking is irrelevant right now if you are not making money online.
Here is why I say that!
After spending the past six years working to make money online I want to tell you why positive thinking really has nothing to do with making money on the Internet.
People that like to point to positive thinking would tell you the importance of writing your goals down and reading them. For example, if I wrote I will make $300 a day online, and read them every day for 4 months, at the end of 4 months I will still not be making any more money than when I started reading.
When it comes to making money online words without action mean nothing. And it’s impossible to take the proper action without the skills necessary to succeed.
A better thing to read would be “I will learn how to get traffic to my website” and read that over and over until you have actually done it. You will never make any money online without the skills it takes, so you have got to get things in the proper order.
The most important thing that you must have to make money working online is skills. They are more important than your website design, your product, how many friends you have in your social network, and so on.
If you are going to focus on skills, there are three things you must learn how to do.
1. You must learn how to blog or learn basic HTML to build web pages. I say that now because your blog platform can build web pages for you.
2. You must master at least one form of meaningful traffic generation. This could take you several hundred hours to learn how to do.
3. You must create a daily schedule and stick to it. Most people do not make money online because they never create any consistency or momentum in their business because they work in spurts.
I have no doubt that if you would do these three things you can make money on the Internet. I see terribly designed websites that are profitable simply because they get traffic to them.
I seriously doubt if the person making money on that website is sitting down reading his goals every day and being positive about his business that way. But I do know for a fact that he has mastered traffic generation to the point that he gets enough visitors to be profitable.
And that’s about it! Positive thinking is not nearly enough to make money working online, but developing internet marketing skills is.

Great article Jeff…I do believe you still need the power of positive thinking, but without the proper, daily, consistent action, nothing can be accomplished.

Thanks Ron. I do think many successful people are positive by nature, however I personally know many people who I would say are negative people and have never written a goal down in their life.
Yet they have managed to be extremely successful in their careers because they worked extremely hard and developed the skills that it took to be successful in them.
That really is my only point in this article that skills are the more important than positive thinking when the rubber meets the road!

Hi Jeff, go ahead and crush my spirit, hahaha. Positive thinking can make you feel good for a while. If you don’t see the results you were positive you would get it can also make you miserable. I am an action taking person and believe firmly in the power of positive actions.
Positive thinking and goal setting do have advantages but only if you have set the means in place to reach those goals. Goals must be obtainable.Thought alone will not do it for you.

Very well written Jeff.You have made a great point using the three important things people must learn in order to start earning money using the internet.I myself must admit that I do not know how to use HTML to build web pages.But I could easily learn this if I was motivated.I am not trying to sound negative here but I think a lot of people who may read this but are affraid to comment are thinking the same thing and that is “and then what”.Because you still have to get excited in order to get motivated correct.And if a person does not have or can not come up with a nich market then they are less likely to want to go to the trouble to learn HTML if they think they will not be able to use it as a money making tool.Ok thats my thought on HTML and now on to the number two item which is being able to master one form of meaningful traffic generation.This could be a sort of trick question because it sounds like there is a secret out there that if you spend hundreds of hours researching that a person could actually learn how to target meaningful traffic to their website without paying a dime.Because for people that pay for traffic they dont have to learn correct.
So in summing up my thoughts for people like me who don’t have any investment money for mentoring or coaching and who cannot come up with an idea for a nich market it is going to be really tough to convince them to learn HTML.
But do not let my plight stop anyone from moving forward because in the three years I have been one of Jeffs subscribers he has given me lots of great ideas and insight.So good luck to all of you who may read this.I believe that Jeff is a very knowledgeable and honest person.

I am not saying you have to learn html. A Wordpress or Blogger.com blog eliminates website building if you don’t want to. All you do is type. I did a blog post on a new blog I am starting called Content Liar and all I did way type. The pages were built for me when I clicked the save button. http://contentliar.blogspot.com/
As for traffic generation you can either buy traffic which takes no skill and ends the minute you stop buying it or you can learn how ot generate some other way.
I have spent hundreds of hours or maybe even thousands mastering how to do article marketing. I know of people who have learned traffic exchanges inside out. Still others do nothing but forum marketing and make living doing it. That is my point about mastering a traffic generation skill and how long it takes. This is not my rule and I wish it was easier on the internet, but it is not.
The work ethic speaks for itself. You either do or you don’t but either way you have made your own decision.

How a bout: I will learn how to drive traffic to my site to earn $300 a month.
Here you you will do everything to learn and to accomplish that goal of $300/month.
Staring at a picture of a dream house won’t help you, but working hard to make the money for that house will build it eventually.
There is nothing wrong in dreaming/wishing/praying but it must go side by side with real action.

Sure, “only” positiv thinking is not enough if you wouldn’t take action.
And of course Goal Setting is not enough if you wouldn’t go for the goal
and take action toward it.
The real thing about positiv thinking and goal setting in conjunction with The Law of Attraction (and this is what Haanel, Robbins and others refer to) is to enable yourself to take the right action and to attract opportunities to reach your goal. Still they all teach one important thing: Take Action!

Jeff, thanks for the article! Skill is the best tool to have in any profession.
I was fearing to up-date my website,thinking I would break it just because I did not know the HTML language. I had to learn to do it myself and I am still learning. So positive thinking alone, will not take one anywhere unless one applies what you has been learnt. Putting gas in your car will not move it unless you sit in driver’s seat and drive.
Once more, thank you for your advice and your valuable experience . You have given me encouragement and hope to build my business.

Taking action is not enough either. I have watche people for years work hard at this business and get no where because they did not have the skills to take the right kind of action. Action without skills is as big of a waste of time as is positive thinking without action!
