Joint Venture Marketing

Joint venture marketing can be a good thing if it is mutually beneficial. A joint venture is described as an agreement between two or more businesses to mutually accomplish a business objective.

They are also known as doing a JV, or JV for short. I started JV With Jeff with this in mind. Working together to promote a produt and make money by helping each other.

I get emails almost everyday from someone wanting to me to joint venture with them. I appreciate that and because I have a website that is a high traffic website for many competitive websites I understand why someone would want to JV with me. What about a new person who does not get a lot of traffic. What do you do if someone emails asking asking you to JV with them.

If I was you I would email him and ask him why he wants to JV with you. I only JV with people I have a personal dialogue with. I get offers everyday and most of them I do not even know or have never heard of. I view them as no better than joining an affiliate program unless I am able to get communication going back and forth.

I think an effective joint venture is one that is mutually beneficial and has 2 people, or more, working equally towards the same goal. Many JV’s turn out to be one person creating a product and then giving you a copy for free in hopes you will put it on your website or mail it out to your list.

That’s o.k., but for the most part this is not a real joint venture. Personally I like to JV with people I am comfortable with and feel like I would like to work with. When I email them they email me back and I know who they are. Then with the right product a joint venture can be very good.

Because I am not into product creation I am always on the lookout for something good to sell. That is why I do affiliate marketing and network marketing. I can get paid selling other people’s stuff. The problem is most products are really nothing more than rehashed information designed to build someone else’s mailing list.

I am not going to promote this unless it is really fresh and offers something unique and pretty darn valuable. Why would I want to promote my own list away to somebody else just to make a few sales. In my view ebooks can be good joint venture products, but to benefit my own list they need to solve a problem.

Article Domination by Joshua Spaulding is something I like to promote because he is an article writer customer and his book benefits my article customers. Plus it is very well written so I feel good about telling people about it. I would do it even if i didn’t make anything on it, but since it is also a Clickbank product I can promote it and make a commission. He sent me an advance copy because he wanted me offer it to my mailing list and on my website. Because I like him and the work he was doing online I was happy to look at it.

This is an example of joint venture marketing that makes sense. The flip side is someone who I do not know mailing me a form letter asking me to sell their product. It probably isn’t going to happen, at least not with me.
