It is interesting to me to go to an internet marketing forum and read the number of posts about how to get traffic to your website. How long does it take to get 500 visitors a day to a website. That sort of thing.

I just read one post called the “the end of advertising”, playing off of several of “the death of” reports that have come in the past couple of months.

Allan Gardyne, of Associate Programs fame, seems to always have a good pulse on what is going on. He said if advertising was going to die why is Google growing so fast. Good point and right to the point. My reply was as long as people get results from their advertising they will continue to do it.

Several other people, including Allan, agreed word of mouth is still the best form of advertising there is. No doubt about that. But this has got me thinking about repeat traffic and what makes a sticky website.

If you combine some of these with ideas of your own as well as work at keeping your own site fresh help make your visitors experience to your site more pleasurable and in turn increase your own odds that they may come back.
