Great post Jeff,

I've been seeing this topic come up pretty often in the past week or two. Here is my take on it.

With the HUGE popularity of "Bum Marketing," an old technique with a new name, marketers have been loading the article directories with PLR content and other content that the SE's hate. This has lowered the value of article directory submission.

Article marketing defined is literally using articles to market. Since this is true, just because article directories are diluted and less valuable, we shouldn't say that the entire technique is dead.

This just means we need to be more creative with our submissions.

Submitting quality, unique articles to "authority" sites will always be powerful in my opinion.

So, I would say article directory submission may be "dying" but "article marketing" is very much alive and well.
