Is Article Marketing Dead

The death of article marketing is upon us. At least it is according to the one and only Len Bartholomew.

Nice job Len on this article. It is something we should all be concerned with because article marketing has been the one free form of promotion that has actually worked for me.

I’m not sure where all this is going to end up. I see where EzineArticles.com is considering, or maybe already has done, adding no follow code to all of the articles before the resource box.

What that means is the search engines do not spider our websites listed in the resource box. The only benefit to the writer is when the reader clicks on the link in the resource box. This eliminates any benefit as far as backlinks from an seo point of view.

So is article marketing dead? Probably not, but the way we do it may be. Using articles in social marketing is working for me right now. I get can on page one of google in a day or less and stay there if I choose my keywords right and get them set up in the post correctly.

The other thing is getting them submitted to as many social directories as possible. This certainly drives traffic, increases rss feed subscribers, and is getting me some good page rankings for the various keywords I target.

The downside is my make money blog does not convert well for Google Adsense. I am experimenting on other ways to make money with it and we will see how that goes.

    Great post Jeff,

I’ve been seeing this topic come up pretty often in the past week or two. Here is my take on it.

With the HUGE popularity of “Bum Marketing,” an old technique with a new name, marketers have been loading the article directories with PLR content and other content that the SE’s hate. This has lowered the value of article directory submission.

Article marketing defined is literally using articles to market. Since this is true, just because article directories are diluted and less valuable, we shouldn’t say that the entire technique is dead.

This just means we need to be more creative with our submissions.

Submitting quality, unique articles to “authority” sites will always be powerful in my opinion.

So, I would say article directory submission may be “dying” but “article marketing” is very much alive and well.
