Does Article Marketing Suck

A guy posted in the Warrior Forum a couple of days ago that article marketing sucks and pay per click advertising was a much more superior way to go.
Of course all of the article marketers gang piled him. Steve Wagenhiem is someone I respect and he defended article marketing as well as anyone. And why not, he earns a 6 figure income at home writing.
The writer of the post in the Warrior Forum was Marc Anthony and his main point was article marketing is a lot of work and can burn you out if you are not careful. However he also contends that even if you hire a writer you will waste more money then you get in return.
I did post myself and my main point was no matter how you promote online it will take you several hundred hours just to become an expert at one form of internet advertising. Think about that the next time you jump around from one promotion to the next.
I like article marketing because I can get permanent backlinks which gives me free traffic. Yes it does take a lot of work on a consistent basis. If I do ppc advertising the minute I pull my ads my traffic stops. Not so with articles which stay archived in article directories, social directories, and search engines such as Google!
I used to manage advertising co-op programs for Amana where I was a territory sales rep for almost 20 years. My most successful customers were those who put together a budget and stuck to it. They didn’t base their success on one ad.
If more internet marketers would do this their would be more people making money online. Plain and simple you have to stick with something to see results. I don’t care it is article marketing, pay per click advertising, or traffic exchanges, you have to stick with it and learn how to do it!
No article marketing does not suck. No pay per click advertising does not suck. No standing on a corner in a chicken suit with your website url attached to your beak does not suck.
What sucks is trying one thing and giving up. Then trying something else and quitting on it. That type of marketing approach will guarantee your internet marketing failure for sure.

A lot of people throw that “____ doesn’t work” card on article marketing because they target the wrong keywords and/or fail to differential strategies between a submission for direct traffic and one where the primary driver is SEO.
I also find that most people are very narrow in how they present their product, choosing the most plainly obvious thing to write about. If they looked as basic comparative and contrasting principles, the world would open up to them!
