I usally delete them without even reading them. But, you're right about the peel-away ad. The visitor has a choice to look - but the temptation is always pretty strong, so I think they work really well. I particularly like how they are out of the way and unobtrusive yet they are noticeable and draw attention. I like the one on the top corner of this page and may have to get one like it.
