Do Peel Away Ads Work
Do peel away ads work? I wondered so I now have one on my site.
Have you been on websites where there is a peel away ad just waiting for you to check it out? I just installed one on my website and blog and actually think it turned out pretty good.
Here is why I did it!
I think most people are tired of pop ups, fly in the ads, and maybe even pop under ads. These can be kind of annoying because they show up unannounced and require you to click on them to get rid of them.
I see one of the biggest advantages of the peel away ads as being you can install them up in the corner of your webpage where they are out of the way, and then leave it up to the visitor to determine whether they want to look at it or not.
I see these as a great way to draw attention to your favorite program by using the curiosity approach. We are all curious by nature, and when you see a peel away ad up in the corner that says “special offer” it is only natural to go up and see what it is all about.
One of the nice things is that the minute your mouse scrolls up over the peel away ad it opens up where customer can read it and then determine if they want to click on it or not. You never leave the actual page that you are on.
These are really easy to install and once you set up with a folder and the necessary files you can place a small piece of code on any page that you want.
I personally am enthused about having these peel away ads on my site will be curious to see how they perform. Anything to make money and do it in a nonthreatening way to my visitor is a good idea to me.

I’ve used a peel-away corner ad for quite a while and it converts very well. I particularly like how they are out of the way and unobtrusive yet they are noticeable and draw attention. I like the one on the top corner of this page and may have to get one like it.

Hi Jeff
I’ve never liked pop-up or fly-in ads because they interrupt me and don’t give me any choice. I usally delete them without even reading them. But, you’re right about the peel-away ad. The visitor has a choice to look - but the temptation is always pretty strong, so I think they work really well. I will definitely be considering putting one on my site - thanks for the reminder, Jeff!

Interesting article Jeff and some good points - I agree people get bored and hence irritated with all the older popups - this is a cool change.
Thanks
