Or any disucssion forums that relate to the theme of your website or blog. My web site is built around the theme of make money online and therefore it is only natural I hang out in forums that are frequented by internet marketers and people looking for ways to make money on the internet.

Think about this statistic. 95% of the people who have a website or blog are not making any money. What that means in regards to forum marketing is that for every 100 people who read your post 95 of them could be a prospect for your product or program.

That makes me want to get out more. I have 3 main forums I post in and that has been it. Big Mistake

I am so limited in potential traffic it is ridiculous. I am talking about the best web site traffic. The kind that is interested in what I have to offer. Not buying 10,000 hits for $29.95. These people are like looking for a needle in a haystack. They do not care about me or my website.

Discussion forums allow you to build some credibility when you post. Then when someone comes to your site they do care about you and what you have to offer.

You can not get that high quality traffic hiding in 1 or 2 forums where you are comfortable.

I just start posting at Conquer Your Niche which so far appears to be a really good forum.

My personal favorite is the Warrior Forum, as well as the Plugin Profit Site forum. One more that is excellent for affiliate programs is the Associates Programs Forum. Chris Tinney started a home based business forum that is really a mlm forum as much as anything and it is really good.

The Big Boards has almost 2000 forums and message boards and is a great place to find just about anything you are looking for in the way of forums.

More and more social bookmarking is offering a great way to make friends and influence people. This takes some time to build up credibility as well. But why not. If you are looking for good traffic and not just numbers social marketing is a great way to do it.

I am having great results with Netscape, Digg and Google Bookmarks among others.

Here is my point. To get the best web site traffic you have to get out and be seen. Forums and social marketing are great for this. So is article marketing and email marketing. It all adds up. Do as much as you can everyday and you are going to start to see results.
