Automatic Responder Use
I want to talk about automatic responder use. We call them autoresponders in our industry. An autoresponder is a fairly new development in technology. It is one of those words that has more meaning to an Internet marketer than it does to common everyday people. For those of you who are using one, or considering it, here are some things you should know and ways to use them differently you may not have thought of.
1. Use an autoresponder to direct people around your website. You can direct a visitor to other pages on your website or blog by putting related links in it. Then they can click on the link to your autoresponder and be sent an email with those various links.
Thinks about all of the possibilities this offers as a way to get repeat traffic. Many people like to read email and not spend time surfing. This will allow you to direct them to a specific page without them having to search all over your website.
2. Use articles you have written and put them in a series on your autoresponder. Many of us waste our articles, or at the very least do not maximize them. An autoresponder is a simple way to keep your name in front of someone over and over with your articles. You could put a sign up form for various themes on certain pages of your website or blog and in doing so create lists for specific sections of them.
3. Keep in touch with people if you are involved in any programs. Many times we build the lists of our upline or the very program we represent, but we can not contact them personally ourselves. I do not mean emailing several thousand people one at a time.
I am talking about having a welcome email set up in an autoresponder and manually typing in the new member’s name and email address. This is a quick way to follow-up as well to set them up for future follow-up by you.
4. Have special promotion web pages in an autoresponder. The only way to get access is join the responder. You could offer discounts, graphics, free ebooks, or anything special outside of the normal stuff you promote.
5. Create a contest on your blog. Have you visitors post comments and then reward them via autoresponder. Everyone wins something, but the grand prize winner is only announced to the list.
This has been just 5 ways to get more from out of your autoresponder. This barely scratches the surface. When I first started online there was a saying that went like this, “the person who rules the list rules the money.”
This is still true today, but should even be expanded on. If you are not maximizing your automatic responder use you are probably leaving money on the table. In the game of Internet marketing and email followup that is a bad idea.
