2 Things An Internet Marketer And Philanthropist Have In Common

A philanthropist is someone who attempts to improve the well being of an individual or charity.

An Internet marketer attempts to improve their own well being by promoting something online.

They both have a couple of options in how they reach their end goal.

1. Invest money. To make money online you need website visitors.You are going to get those people to come to your site with exposure through advertising and marketing.

The fastest way to drive traffic to a website is to spend money on advertising using the the pay per click business model. Google Adwords is the dominant player in this market.

Charities need money to survive. As a philanthropist you may personally invest money in a charity or an individual through a private donation.

Charities also advertise. I see television advertising all the time for St. Judes which is a Children’s Hospital charity.

The Dumb Friends League is a great charity looking out for dogs and cats. I see ads on t.v and I get mail requesting a donation.

2. Invest time. Another way to market your website to get website visitors is to do free advertising.

An example of this would be participating in the discussion forums. You set up a signature file to include a link back to your website, and as you make posts in the discussion forum people click on the link in your signature file.

Other popular forms of free advertising that require you to invest some time and include article marketing, classified ads, and social networking.

Another way that you can be a philanthropist and not spend money is to invest your time in a charity. You may volunteer a certain number of hours a week to work for that charity.

You may not have the money to make a personal donation, but you compensate for that by investing time. This is a great way to be involved in your charity without personally been involved financially.

Do you see the similarities between Internet marketing and philanthropy? For these two enterprises to survive they need an investment of either time or money.

As an Internet marketer you need to understand the importance of doing a little bit of both. People who successfully use outsourcing know the importance of spending money on employees to have them do the time investment that they personally don’t want to do.

The same thing is true for charities. You can hire somebody to work in your charity for an hourly rate.This person is certainly making an impact, just the same as a volunteer would be as well.
